BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Having no clues about what nature's laws govern our own perceptions, we can neither recognize real values in our existence, nor evolve ourselves as truly intelligent creatures.

My lifelong research aims to reveal the most fascinating living art studios we know - that are our own minds. The experience that I'd like to share here is about discovering, perhaps, the most fundamental laws that govern our human existence.

While a theologian explains that you are a soul that belongs to God "out there", and a neurologist  most likely tells you that you're a product of a function of your physical brain, I'm suggesting  to make a step beyond these scenarios.  Lets watch our subconscious minds (not brains!), behind the curtains of the conscious stages of our visible reality, working on preparations of that visible reality.  What are our own minds, beyond their theaters of universes, mundane reality, and beyond our scientific, philosophical, or mathematical thinking?

The world leaves us no time for time, and no space for any space. The external existence that we try to sense and perceive is entirely new and different in every moment. This instant change never disappears, it is unavoidable, it is the universal law, telling us - nothing is fixed or idle.  The only possible way for us to pretend that we are able to measure, observe, or copy something  is  to simply ignore this condition of  instant transformations, pretend that we can stop the mighty world from changing for dealing with our "exact"  "same"  fixed ideas, formulas, systems,  events and things. In fact, we subconsciously deal with our limitations in perceiving, turning into our crude approximations of myriads of mental appearances into seemly "unchanged" appearances.  We call them "the same".  We are using this human mental trick since we have created our conscious theaters of minds. It is quite bewildering that we still believe that we deal with the "same" sun, selves, houses, persons,  numbers, words, ideas, or copies. The external reality is bottomless, it cannot possibly have any shapes or surfaces. Similarly to a classical artist who is painting on  flat canvas, our consciousness creates somewhat flat screens on which it captures our random shapeless sensations, turning (composing) them into shapes that can be visible to us.

"Seeing means believing".  Human consciousness has been growing based on our experience of sight - the most deceiving perception of all our sensory perceptions.

However, in order to interact and coexist with the world grand change and its endless transformations our intuitive subconscious minds explore their internal, built-in from our birth, art studios. We all have to be artistic  for staying alive. Any living form has a mind  (even if it has no physical brains) that  creates its own internal production, its substance, individual environment and conditions, while expressing and acting out its one-of-a-kind character.

These internal realities of minds are governed by fascinating laws, that can be compared with the artist's rules in classical painting. Just in order to sense or perceive, think or remember anything, not only human, but every living mind must constantly Compare, Select, Compose, Focus, and Frame its sensations.  Without this process of Comparison a mind entirely looses its vitality, memory, ability to sense and therefore, to think. We have to instinctively Compare everything we sense as long as we live. Comparison is a condition that allows continuity within any form of life. Comparison helps us adjust our perceptions to change. Everything that happens inside our minds is the result of this life stimulating process.

In order to create an image, a thought, a formula, a concept, our minds must keep up with this process of Comparison, while Selecting, Composing, Focusing on, and Framing their images and thoughts.

Our logic vanishes from our sight, as a little fish jumping out its aquarium into the ocean,  if we do not Frame, in other words, do not capture, or  limit our ideas, formulas, calculations, philosophies, by creating man-made structures of all kinds.  Our conscious thinking seeking its comfort and sense of control by imagining beginnings and ends.

The crucially vital role of our natural perceptions is far beyond our popular concepts - Perceptions do Not reflect or copy anything.

Unaware of this process that makes our realities and our observations of them possible for us, we, humans, keep focusing our attention towards mental spectacles, believing that we can see external events.

For this reason only a few scholars’ thoughts may somehow relate to the Kantian deeply intuitive notion pointing at "things in themselves". We may explore this notion much further. The existence of external events out there  are forever beyond the reach of our vision or touch. Those shapes or "presentations" of "things in themselves" that we see, whether we use our naked eyes, or see them through microscopes, or telescopes, are still not presentations or appearances of the outer world.

Our nature is more sophisticated and fascinating than we can ever imagine it.  It is very unfortunate that this persistent ignorance about our own perceptions and their limitations  creates a colossal abyss within every field of our activities, making our conscious observations and thinking, along with our sciences and technology, ethics, and ideology, hang nowhere without any basic foundation.

The hidden from our sight laws that govern our own life do not actually rule the rest of the natural world.  Before we begin to judge, calculate, measure, discover and "explore" the theater of our internal universes,  we need to discover and learn about HOW our minds create that theater of our realities in which our minds live, in the first place.

The Artist's Notes aims to describe how it is possible to make our existence observable, tangible, pictorial and auditory.  It is a subconscious process.  This mysterious subject has been approached, merely by intuition, by a few of the greatest philosophers/researchers,  such as ancient Protagoras, and later Hume, Kant, Bergson, Merleau-Ponty  and Heisenberg.

It is important to learn that the physical laws we have discovered throughout history, such as gravitational, electromagnetic, thermodynamic, radiation, relativity or quantum phenomenon, indicate very unique conditions within our internal human selves. These conditions indicate our limitations.

While constantly interacting with turmoils of world's change, our unique perceptions have created the most intricate Defensive Mechanism we may possess, or know.  Our perceptions have created  our internal system of limitations and boundaries for the sake of our survival as individual beings.

I believe that in elementary schools, before being introduced to mathematics or history, we need to learn some basic facts of life. Among them is the fact that every living form has its unique life experience based on its own perception of life.   Every mind is a "thing in itself", entirely unique and self content. No mind (or a body) is able to fly out of itself to see what is happening outside its own internal reality.

Our limitations, carve out, shape-up the theater of our personal realities and conditions.

Please take a look at my sketch, below. When I've come to this idea to place an appearance of a physical body inside a physical theater of mind, surrounded by  mind’s deep subconsciousness, practically everything that I have happened to know started falling into their places, as coherently, as if I have started unveiling this phenomenal puzzle - the nature of our existence.  In my Artist’s Notes I explore this basic idea, and develop it further on in every chapter.

HERE is my "SUBCONSCIOUS-COSMIC-PHYSICAL MIND" draft, depicting how three major spheres, subconscious, cosmic and physical, are revealing basic "geography" of mind.  I believe that a human mind has at least three basic spheres. Undoubtedly, it has many more. However, this simple rendering  may help imagine how our nonphysical, random interactions with the outer environment, (see outer sphere),  eventually, get digested and formed into our mind's constructions,  grand universes with their stars and planets, milky ways and black holes  (see a second sphere), and then, how they are turning into our what we call "physical" existence (see a central sphere), where we can sense ourselves as physical bodies, as well as other tangible subjects or conditions. Ultimately speaking, unlike the illusive domains of our minds, the objective reality has no ups or downs, no actual time or space, perspectives, shapes, colors, or distances. The world cannot be seen or measured OUTSIDE the domains of our minds.  I will be explaining further on how this very nature of our minds, and its unique laws and limitations continuously create our internal realities that we are able to memorize, explore, see, hear, smell, touch, observe, research, learn about, change, adjust, love or hate.

This "picture" of a mind is about how I see the work of our limited perceptions, that  turn  our primary subconscious instinctive interactions with the outer, non-physical, untouchable environment into our own internal, tangible theater of reality, or what we call - our physical reality. This is my attempt to show, at least in this primitive sketch, how the laws of our perceptions govern not at all the outer world but our own minds.  These INTERNAL laws of our existence, which Euclid or Newton, or Einstein have discovered, are describing our unique experience of human beings. These laws or any other laws we know do not explain the world that exists beyond our own perceptions.

There are no trees, stars or water out there. The world is endless non-physical change, driven by turbulent powers, where no balance, or stability, or exact repetition, or symmetry are possible. The world beyond our perceptions has no time for our human time and has no space for our human space at least for one reason - it changes entirely in every instant. Our perceptions are not at all to see or hear it as it is. In the first place we are given our limited perceptions not to reflect anything but to create our own UNIQUE internal existence. Perceptions are building invisible boundaries protecting us from crucial changes of the world of which we are not even aware. Through perceptions, or better to say - limitations - we are shaping up our reality and everything in it.  The natural art of creating and recreating oneself within different, ever changing circumstances and conditions is what one may call the essence of life. We may be fair, very poor, lovely, horrific, or great artists, nevertheless, but every one of us must be an artist not for the sake of arts, but for the sake of one's own life and its continuity. Interacting and working with change is a process of life. In the following chapters I depict how perceptions work, governed by the nature's most fundamental laws of life itself. These laws are to empower all living forms within their endlessly creative ways.

One's mind with all its production, with its deep subconsciousness, as well as with shallow almost flat appearances of conscious realities, is what one is. Our shallow conscious reality, as we see and feel it, is our peculiar theater mainly created by very limited sensory perception of sight. The amusing and playful perception of sight!!  Our intelligence, sciences, common mentality, judgements, and our social activities are all based on the same concept - "seeing means believing", while in fact we believe the most illusive  production of the most deceiving perception of all we possess, our sight.

This confidence in visual appearances makes us almost unaware of the fact that all the exciting spectacles we observe with our eyes are not reflecting any part of the objective reality of the world. (I have so many ideas to share with you.. but it's not possible to fit this material into the tiny window/space.)

Our LIMITATIONS in perceiving have a crucially important reason. Limitations protect our minds within and without, from melting down into mercilessly changing powers of the world. My main message to humanity - change is the most fundamental law of continuity, by changing our limitations we have a great chance to evolve our still very childish minds.

from a POEM "Blessed Blindness" (by Vera Nova)

......... But if our limitations.... disappeared
And everyone could see
Every mind's Kingdom,
Feel every feeling and know every thought as one,
Misunderstandings could melt down forever.
Seeds of doubts and blame about the others could stop growing.
No fights, no wars, intrigues or hate, no players or pretending.

Alas, no illusions of beauty, seductive unknowns and guesses.
No wonder and No wisdom -
- all truths and lies are clear for each mind and for all.
No thrill to admire, no one to thank,
No need to explain, to talk, to act, to scream.

No artist to paint.
No poet to sing.

If my peculiar senses cannot give me the world
God bless my limits, my blindness that lay the soil for my garden of dreams.
How little I can see with my eyes!
How much I can see and create without them!
God bless my lonely mind in its sacred solitude. Bless my own way
To know your world.

THERE IS NO TIME WITHOUT A MIND

Clocks are churches to venerate Time.
They are built for minds bewitched by the illusion of its power.
Humans hurry their existence, they know more about hours and minutes
than what they do, facing New Years to count.
Time measures stars to fit them in space of minds.
Clocks tick away the rest and labor, love and hatred, horror and joy in
the same way because they come and go as the same units.
They give the same minutes to be born and die.

It was no time before I opened my eyes to see the world.
My heart started my clock and my time began.
My days are as long as I move.
Thoughts are years.
Minutes of hate are shorter than seconds.
Minutes of love and thanks longer than my existence.

I cannot be late for myself -- I am always on time.

My mind is the only time machine which takes me everywhere ignoring millions of years.
I could see my life as one day but I need centuries to understand a minute.
When my heart stops my time no one will be there to rewind it.
